DCO Essex Energy, LLC developed the combined heating, chilling, and power facility that services the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, New Jersey. DCO operates and maintains the facility based on a 20-year contract. The centralized production facility provides all the heating, cooling, domestic hot water, and baseload electricity. A sophisticated control system allows DCO and the Correctional Facility to remotely monitor and control the HVAC systems to optimize efficiency and detect even the most minor fluctuation within the conditioned space areas.

This project represents the best possible application of technology and systems resulting in a public-private partnership that is energy-efficient and cost-effective.
