The Elizabeth Street Scape 3 project focuses on enhancing the city’s infrastructure while maintaining compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The work involves continuous dewatering of all excavations until backfilling is completed, ensuring positive drainage away from buildings and maintaining the flow of streams, storm sewers, and sanitary systems. Grading operations are carefully managed to prevent erosion, with soil erosion and sediment control measures implemented per the Somerset/Union Soil Conservation District guidelines. Key tasks include the safe removal of asbestos cement pipes, adherence to New Jersey codes, and the replacement of existing curbs and sidewalks to match the original grade. Additional elements of the project include standard roadway, traffic control, driveway excavation, and resetting manhole and catch basin castings. New curb ramps, long-life thermoplastic traffic stripes, and replacement trees contribute to the aesthetic and functional upgrades, making this project a critical step in revitalizing Elizabeth’s streetscape.
