DCO Energy, LLC permitted, engineered, designed, and constructed the state-of-the-art Combined Heating and Power Facility (the CHP Facility) that services the existing Bergen County Correctional Facility located in Hackensack, New Jersey.  DCO manages the operation and performs the maintenance of the facility based on a 20-year contract.

The centralized CHP Facility provides a significant portion of the heating and domestic hot water requirements of the Jail.  Existing production equipment currently in operation at the Jail backs up the CHP Facility.  The CHP Facility provides a significant portion of the base load electric energy requirements of the Jail.  Reliance on the local utility for base load electric energy needs was significantly reduced.

This project represents the best possible application of technology and systems resulting in a public-private partnership that is energy efficient and cost effective.
