The project consisted of plasma-cutting four high pressure and intermediate pressure steam turbine inner shell sections weighing approximately 125,000 pounds into sections that could be transported over the road without special permits. The shells were cut with an exothermic oxygen lance into nine-foot wide sections, each weighing more than 34,000 pounds, and loaded on to trucks for shipment to a salvage operation.
